Carbohydrates for Quick Energy

We will learn about the food items possessing carbohydrates for quick energy. Sugars and starches are carbohydrates. They are needed by our body to get quick energy. So, they are called energy giving nutrients or substances.

They are used in the process of digestion to produce energy in the body. Children need lots of carbohydrates. People who do physical labor also need more carbohydrates.

Food items Rich in Carbohydrates

Cereals such as rice, wheat and maize are rich in carbohydrates. So are foods made from cereals such as bread, chapattis or dosa. Sugar and things containing sugar as well as potatoes, beans, bananas, etc. possess carbohydrates.
