Copper and its Uses

We will discuss here about copper and its uses. We treat copper as a mineral. Copper is the first metal discovered by ancient people. Copper pyrites, cuprite are the two most popular ores of copper. This metal is reddish brown in color.

The different uses of copper are discussed here. It is heavy but not a very hard metal. Copper is one of the best conductors of electricity. So it is used to manufacture electric wires and many electrical instruments. Copper is also a good conductor of heat. So it is used for preparing the heating elements of boilers and geysers. Capillary pipes of refrigerators and air-conditioners, radiators of cars and generators are also made of copper. Due to its color and softness, it is used to make plaques, name plates and show pieces. In old days copper was used to prepare coins and utensils.
