Common Factors

Factor is a number which exactly divides another number without leaving any remainder. When we find the factors of 2, 3 or more numbers we will see that some factors are same and those same factors are called common factors.

For Example:

Find the common factors of 125 and 150

The factors of 125 are 1, 5, 25, 125

The factors of 150 are 1, 5, 10, 15, 25, 50, 150

The common factors of 125 and 150 are:

1, 5 & 25

Here are few more examples illustrated

1. Find the common factors of 64 and 56

The factors of 64 are:

1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64


The factors of 56 are:

1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 14, 28, 56


The common factors of 64 & 56 are:

1, 2, 4 & 8


2. Find the common factors of 8, 12 and 16

The factors of 8 are:

1, 2, 4, 8


The factors of 12 are:

1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12


The factors of 16 are:

1, 2, 4, 8, 16


The common factors of 8, 12 and 16 are:

1, 2 and 4


3. Find the common factors of 7, 49 and 343

The factors of 7 are:

1 and 7


The factors of 49 are:

1, 7, 49


The factors of 343 are:

1, 7, 49, 343


The common factors of 7, 49 and 343 are:

1 and 7


4. Find the common factors of 36, 96, 198

The factors of 36 are:

1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, 36


The factors of 96 are:

1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 48, 96


The factors of 198 are:

1, 2, 3, 6, 11, 18, 33, 66, 99, 198


The common factors of 36, 96, 198 are:

1, 2, 3 & 6


5. Find the common factors of 112, 128, and 256

The factors of 112 are:

1, 2, 4, 7, 14, 28, 56, 112


The factors of 128 are:

1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128


The factors of 256 are:

1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256


The common factors of 112, 128, and 256 are:

1, 2, & 4


6. Find the common factors of 100, 150, and 200

The factors of 100 are:

1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 20 25, 50, 100


The factors of 150 are:

1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, 30, 50, 75, 150


The factors of 200 are:

1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 20, 25, 40, 50, 100, 200


The common factors of 100, 150, and 200 are:

1, 2, 5, 10, 50


7. Find the common factors of 10, 20, 30 and 40

The factors of 10 are:

1, 2, 5, 10


The factors of 20 are:

1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 20


The factors of 30 are:

1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, 30


The factors of 40 are:

1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 20, 40


The common factors of 10, 20, 30 and 40 are:

1, 2, 5 & 10
