Water is Necessary for Our Body

We know the importance of drinking water and how water is necessary for our body. Proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals are the five types of nutrients our body needs.

Besides the nutrients our body also needs sufficient amount of water to stay healthy.

Water has no food value. But it is one of the most important components of our food. We need a lot of water to digest the food, get rid of waste and use the nutrients properly. The waste and soluble materials go out of the body due to water as urine.

Drinking Water

Almost two-thirds of our body weight consists of water. Our blood contains water. Our muscles also contain some water.

Our body needs about 3 to 4 liters of water every day. About 1 liter comes from drinks and the food we eat. So, we need to drink about 2 liters i.e., 8 glasses of water a day.

Many fruits such as cucumber, melons, etc. contain a large amount of water.

We take water in the form of cold-drink, coffee, tea, etc.
