Effects of Air and Water Pollution

We will discuss here about the effects of air and water pollution.

Effects of air pollution:

When we breathe polluted air, harmful substances get into our body, and causes harm to the body. The breathing system is specially affected.

Some factories, especially power plants where coal is burnt to make electricity, give off certain harmful gases. These gases mix with the water drops in clouds to form dangerous substances called acids. The water drops fall to the earth as acid rain. This damages plants and buildings, and affects the soil.

Effects of water pollution:

Water polluted by untreated sewage from houses carries germs. Drinking such water without properly cleaning it can cause dangerous disease such as typhoid, diarrhoea or dysentery. Poisonous chemicals from factories affect fish, other water animals and plants. If we eat such fish, we will also fall ill.
